I think Giuliani is letting his bank account cloud his judgment.

In addition to being under contract to the drug manufacturers association, Giuliani has a deal to represent the drug maker Purdue Pharma, manufacturer of the painkiller OxyContin. Before meeting with reporters here, Giuliani gave a speech to the pharmacy board conventioneers, for which he usually commands a handsome fee.

The article concludes with:

In essence, Giuliani now makes his living by exploiting the national image that he gained during the tragedy.

Editor's Note:  As we all know, the "safety issue" is a red herring - Canadian drugs are as safe as ours (and some would argue that drugs from Canada are safer).  Big pharma mouthpieces use fear to keep American grandparents locked into a captive market - maximizing drug company profits at the expense of people enjoying life after sixty.  Shame on you, Giuliani!
